You’ll set off from the edge of Lake Shkoder and follow the Buna River, where the views constantly change: wide open lake horizons, bridges overhead, and the silhouette of Rozafa Castle nearby. As you continue, the Drini River joins the Buna, the water feels cooler, and the river gains a little more movement, just enough to make it exciting, still calm enough to stay relaxing.
Before you go, Drini’s team sets you up with:
At the end of your route, you’ll arrive at your chosen finish point, usually with an easy place to wait (and refuel) while the team coordinates your transfer back.
Option 1: Obot Village (18 km | ~4-5 hours)
Paddle toward Obot with castle views, bridge crossings, and a satisfying river journey feel. Finish at a small bar where you can enjoy a drink in the shade while waiting for transfer.
Option 2: Dajci Village (19 km | ~5 hours)
A similar distance with an especially convenient finish at Restaurant Lumi i Jetës, great for a relaxed meal or drinks by the water (beach or tree shade) while your pickup is arranged.
Option 3: Bregica Beach (26 km | ~6–7 hours)
The long, memorable one. Finish at Bregica Beach, a surprising sandy stretch near the Albania–Montenegro border (if you stop on the right/western bank, you are in Montenegro). A local spot at the end makes it easy to grab food/drinks while waiting.

We paddled along the Buna river and it was fantastic! Very peaceful, water was fresh and beautiful scenery. The team is fantastic and nice, the service was great. We paddled 18/19km and then they came to pick us up, all perfect. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

It's a great place! Great service with the paddleboards and good explanation of the route and how everything works. The people here are very kind (and funny) and are very forgiving if anything goes wrong. We had the self guided route, with choices between 6KM, 19KM or 27KM on a paddleboard or kayak. We choose 19KM and the route is very beautiful with gorgeous views. Around the second half there is a strong downstream, which is very fun. We stopped at the 14th stop, which was probably the best with it being around 3-4hours with stops along the way. Overal great experience and very fun to do!

Truly great experience. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery with mountains at the back, rare birds, one or two restaurants along the river for a stop. But the best was the kind and professional team. They were very responsive via WhatsApp and helped us to make the trip work even with the kids ( 8 & 10yo). ❤️🙏

We did the long SUP self-guided tour, and it was great. The scenery was great, the equipment was great, staff was helpful and friendly. You can also borrow from them phone waterproof covers and waterproof bags. I also did not expect to get seats on our SUPs (personally, I've never seen this before) which was a pleasant surprise given the distance we had to go. However, expect it to be more of a "kayaking"-style experience than a SUP experience, since you will be sitting and you will be given a kayak-style paddle. It is quite a workout for your arms so make sure you can handle such distance. ON a side note, once you enter the river, the water is pretty chilly, so if you fancy a warm water swim you better do it in the lake area at the beginning of your journey.
