Full description
Discover the quieter, wilder side of Shkoder on a guided stand-up paddleboarding tour across Lake Shkoder and its protected wetlands. This half-day experience is designed to be relaxed, informative, and nature-first, perfect if you want real wildlife, calm water, and a local guide who knows what you’re looking at (and why it matters).
You’ll meet at the watersport center in Shiroka, get a quick briefing, and set off onto the morning waters. As you paddle, the scenery changes dramatically, from the immense openness of the lake to calmer channels where birds nest and rest. Your guide will point out key species (including Whiskered tern and Dalmatian pelican) and explain what makes this area so special and why it’s protected.
Along the way, you’ll slow down for scenic breaks and photos, with time to simply enjoy the stillness, lilies on the surface and the mountains in the background. You'll finally paddle along the Buna river to get fantastic views over Rozafa Castle and stop for a simple refreshment.
At the end, depending on the day and group conditions, you might return to the center by water, towed by a small fishing boat from Buna Bridge. If not possible, you'll be driven back to the starting place by car.

About your host

Drini
Hey, I’m Drini, your guide on Lake Shkoder. I’m the kind of person who can’t look at the water without scanning for birds, lilies, and “what’s happening over there.” 😄
My team and myself have a simple goal: keep the paddle easy, the vibe friendly, and help you understand what makes this lake such a special place, especially the protected wetland areas where nature is doing its thing. We’ll share the stories behind what you see, make sure you feel safe and supported on the board, and I’m always happy to recommend what to do next in Shkoder after we get off the water!

Half day Guided Tour - Amazing experience. Unfortunately we had a rainy weather forecast for Tour day. We were able to finish more than a half of scheduled program - then guide told us storm may come, so we paddle to coast. Even it doesn’t look dangerous before, really strong wind and rain come later. I appreciate experience and safety priorities of guides. But we really enjoyed our trip, interesting telling about nature/flora and history of lake. Wonderful views. Thanks.

My 10 year-old daughter and I went on a half-day paddleboard guided trip. We both loved it. Just the right amount of exertion. Lots of information from our brilliant guide Edis and free drinks and refreshment

Amazing kayak tour with great organization and a personal touch! We joined the tour as a family of three — myself, my husband, and our 11-year-old child. Everything was perfectly on time and well organized. The kayaks and equipment were in excellent condition, and the pace of the trip was adapted to us — neither too fast nor too slow. Our guide Eidis was very kind and informative. He gave us time to enjoy the nature, explained what we saw, and even surprised us with a short stop for coffee — which he kindly offered — and later with fresh fruit cups served from a bridge! That was such a thoughtful and sweet gesture. The tour started at the sports center, and we finished at another point. Afterward, we were driven back to the starting place by car. At the base, we were able to refill our own bottles with drinking water, and there were toilets available too — very convenient. We booked the tour just one day in advance, and the whole experience lasted about 3.5 hours. It was a great mix of peaceful nature, activity, and good company. We highly recommend this team — they really care, they’re professional and friendly, and they make the effort to create a memorable experience. Thank you for everything!

We did two trips with Drini during our stay in Shkodra. First an amazing day paddling down the Buna River. Everything was so well taken care of by Drini. Super equipment, perfect instructions and the pick up was great. Ended the day with a great lunch at a recommended restaurant . Second trip was an early morning boat trip to see the wetlands with lots of information on flora and fauna. And managed to see two Dalmatian pelicans. Highly recommend!!

Amazing tourism experience on the lake. Drini is knowledgeable, welcoming and has great chat about the lake, the area, and Albania. Not a cheap activity, but absolutely worth the money. Excellent swimming spot in front of the centre too. Highly recommend for your time in Shkodër!
