Full description
Tirana is a city of contrasts and the best way to understand it is to walk it, taste it, and hear the stories behind it!
You'll meet your guide in the city center and begin your journey through Tirana’s streets, where the layers of Albanian modern history are visible in the buildings, boulevards, and neighborhoods you pass. Along the way, you’ll stop to taste local staples and discover why Albanians take food, coffee, and hospitality so seriously.
Your tastings typically include:
- A traditional breakfast stop to try paçe—a rich, warming soup that locals swear by.
- A coffee stop for Turkish coffee (and a quick crash course in Albania’s coffee rituals).
- A stroll through central Tirana sights, including the pedestrian area and key city landmarks as your guide connects the dots between past and present.
- A visit around Tirana’s Castle area
- A walk through Blloku and the Main Boulevard, learning how this area transformed from a closed communist district into Tirana’s most vibrant neighborhood, plus a quick taste of a very local treat: corn drink mixed with ice cream.
- A hearty grill lunch in a fun local restaurant, where you’ll try Tirana favorites like fërgesë, qofte (meatballs), and more, paired with a local beer, wine, or raki.
You’ll finish with a full belly, a clearer picture of Tirana’s story, and a list of places you’ll want to revisit later!

About your host

Redi
Hey, I’m Redi, your guide, snack coordinator, and the person who will happily explain why Tirana looks like three different cities stitched into one! My colleagues Xhulio, Aaron and I love combining history with food, because honestly… you’ll remember the taste long after you forget the dates.
On this tour, I’ll help you order like a local, spot the details most people walk right past, and share the kind of stories Albanians tell each other, half history, half “you didn’t hear it from me.” Come hungry and bring questions… I’m famous for answering the random ones!

Xhulio was amazing!! From the very first moment we met him, he was awesome, patient, kind and informative. The perfect tour guide! If you're thinking of doing a food tour in Tirana, there are many, but I would highly suggest THIS ONE. Top notch and worth every penny.

Excellent! My spouse loves food tours. I love history tours. We were so pleasantly surprised how Aron, our guide, seamlessly blended the two! We learned so much history and culture and also left the tour very full!! Every single question we asked was answered from food traditions to complicated geopolitics. It felt like an afternoon out with friends even though we all just met!
