Komani Lake is a fjord-like reservoir in northern Albania, created by a 1970s dam on the Drin River, and is a scenic transport link between Koman and Fierzë.
Insider Tips
Whether you take the car ferry (Berisha or Alpin) or the smaller passenger boats, you’ll glide through steep limestone cliffs, deep turquoise waters, and remote mountain scenery similar to Norwegian fjords. It serves as a breathtaking 2.5-hour "liquid highway" for travelers moving between Shkodër and Fierzë
The main ferries depart Koman at 9:00 AM sharp. If you miss it, your day is ruined. The return ferry from Fierzë departs at 1:00 PM. A passenger ticket is roughly €10–€15. Boarding is not organized. Expect a chaotic rush of people and suitcases
Did you know?
The lake was created in 1985 by the construction of the Koman Dam, a massive project under the communist regime known as "The Light of the Party," which flooded the valley and permanently submerged several small villages to provide over 60% of Albania's electricity.
