The road from Berat is paved but winding and narrow. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. If you are a nervous driver, take a tour or a local furgon (minibus) to Çorovodë. Avoid the "back roads" unless you have a 4x4 and stick to the main route through Çorovodë. You'll have the opportunity to stop at multiple viewpoints along the road
Depending on the season, this place is two different worlds. In spring (March - June), the water is high and fast. This is rafting season. You cannot walk in the river. From July to September, the water level drops considerably. This is river trekking season and you can walk/swim through the canyon floor. Don't book a rafting tour in summer, you will be disappointed
