Monterosso al Mare is a picturesque coastal village and the largest of the five towns that make up the Cinque Terre in Liguria
Insider Tips
Monterosso has the largest and most accessible beach in Cinque Terre, Fegina beach, making it a favorite for sunbathers and swimmers. Its popularity means it tends to be overcrowded in summer and you might have to visit the smaller Il Gigante or Tragagia beaches instead
The village is split into 2 distinct parts: the old town with narrow lanes, colorful houses, and delicious seafood restaurants and the more modern Fegina area where you will find most of the accommodations. The town can feel more commercialized compared to the more rustic charm of the other Cinque Terre villages
