About
Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of the British monarch and one of the most iconic landmarks in the world. It’s known for its stunning architecture, ceremonial Changing of the Guard, and lavish State Rooms that are open to the public during the summer months
Insider Tips
During the summer months, when the King is not in residence, Buckingham Palace opens its lavish State Rooms to the public for 10 weeks. Visitors can tour rooms used for official events and ceremonies, including the Throne Room and the grand staircase. You can also explore the palace on selected dates as part of small guided tours during winter and spring. Otherwise, you can only view it from the outside
One of the highlights of visiting Buckingham Palace is witnessing the Changing of the Guard ceremony. This spectacle involves the handover of duties by the King’s Guard and is accompanied by military bands and pageantry. It typically takes place outside the palace at 11:00 AM on set days, though it's best to check the schedule in advance
