The museum is named after Sir William Flinders Petrie, a pioneering archaeologist often referred to as the "Father of Modern Egyptology." Petrie introduced meticulous excavation techniques that transformed archaeological research, and many of the artifacts in the museum were discovered by him during his groundbreaking fieldwork!
