Half-day Boat & SUP Tour on Lake Skadar

My partner and I went on a boat ride + SUP day activity and we absolutely loved it. It was also my birthday so it worked out as the perfect timing to do it. Anja is really kind, friendly and a great teacher (I had never done SUP before), also Milan is very knowledgeable and helped us spot beautiful birds along the way. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was hands down the highlight of our entire trip to Montenegro – and honestly one of the most magical experiences we’ve ever had while traveling. Paddling through Lake Skadar at sunset felt like gliding through the sky itself, with the water reflecting shades of pinks, oranges, and lilacs from the mountains above. If you’re even thinking about doing a tour, stop thinking and just book this one – you will not regret it. Our boat captain Milan grew up on the lake, and his love for it is contagious. He shared incredible stories about the history, people, and nature of the area – the kind of knowledge that can only come from someone who has lived and breathed this lake his whole life. Even on his days off he’s out on the water, and you can truly feel how much he cares about sharing the beauty of this place. Anja was equally amazing – a true expert on the water and a fantastic guide. Her deep knowledge of the birds and surrounding nature added so much richness to the trip, and her warm encouragement made me, as a complete beginner, feel safe, confident, and supported on the paddleboard. She knew exactly how to teach and inspire, and her passion for the lake and the outdoors shines through in everything she does. She even gave us great local tips for hikes, beaches, and restaurants. The experience itself was seamless from start to finish. Communication and booking over WhatsApp was easy and friendly. The boat dropped us off in a peaceful, remote part of the lake – far away from crowds and boat tours – and Milan supervised from a distance at check points to make sure we were safe and Anja and Milan where in contact the whole time. We had refreshments on board, including delicious pomegranate juice, and even shared a local bottle of wine on the way back as the sun set. Anja also took loads of beautiful photos throughout the tour and sent them to us (for free!) that same evening, so we’ll always have memories of the day. What made it truly special was how kind, genuine, and welcoming Milan and Anja are. This didn’t feel like a transactional tourist experience at all – it was a heartfelt adventure with two people who simply love the lake and want to share its beauty with others. The route through lily pads and island channels was breathtaking, the atmosphere on the boat was warm and fun. I genuinely wished the journey could have lasted longer and to spend more time with the two of them. It’s hard to believe this is their first season running these tours, because everything was so thoughtfully done and felt completely professional. Milan and Anja are such a great team, and their passion, humor, and hospitality made us feel like instant friends. This tour isn’t just a highlight of Montenegro – it’s a highlight of my year. I could not recommend enough. If you do one thing in Montenegro, make it this. 🌅💙

Anja's SUP adventures on Lake Skadar are a true experience. She lives by the lake half the year and is an adventurer in winter, so she understands what makes a tour really special. You can upgrade your trip and combine it with other interesting activities and experiences too which is a nice touch. This was our fifth trip to Lake Skadar, but the first with Milan and definitely the best! He is a man who knows, understands and loves this place and is able to show others its beauty and uniqueness.
