Set out across Lake Skadar and discover a quieter, more intimate side of the national park on a guided small-boat tour built around the lake’s most atmospheric scenery. This experience is ideal for travelers who want to escape the busier routes and reach the hidden channels locals often call the lake’s “Amazon.”
After departure, your route takes you past Lesendro Fortress and onward toward three well-known islands, where broad stretches of water lilies begin to spread across the lake. The scenery opens and closes around you in turns: wide water under the sky, then greener, narrower passages that feel almost secret.
What makes this tour special is the boat itself. It is smaller and more agile than most lake boats, but it is not a speedboat and it is not operated as a noisy thrill ride. In the open parts of the lake, your skipper may move a little faster than larger boats simply to shorten the crossing and save more time for the best section of the experience. Once you enter the “Amazon” area, the pace changes completely. The boat slows right down, drifts gently through the channels, and stop so you can watch birds, admire the reflections, and enjoy the silence without disrupting the natural surroundings.
In this secluded part of the lake, the landscape becomes wilder and more enclosed. Willow trees, reeds, floating lilies, fallen branches, and shallow natural passages create a soft, almost dreamlike atmosphere. It is a wonderful place to observe the lake’s birdlife, which may include kingfishers, herons, grebes, and other species depending on the season and conditions. The feeling here is not rushed or crowded. It is exactly the opposite: peaceful, immersive, and authentic.
This option focuses on the lake’s most beautiful remote waterways. It is perfect for guests who want a strong nature experience in a shorter time, with a route designed to bring you quickly to the calmest and greenest channels before lingering where the scenery becomes most magical.
If you choose the extended option, the tour continues beyond the Amazon channels to the historic fishing village of Karuč. Tucked between hills and water, Karuč has a very different character: quiet, traditional, and full of stories. After arriving, you’ll take a short walk of around 10 minutes to a viewpoint above the village, where you can pause for photos and enjoy the peaceful setting from above.

I’m Milan, and I love showing guests the quieter side of Lake Skadar: the part with hidden channels, birdlife, and the kind of silence that makes you automatically start whispering. I use a smaller, more agile boat because it lets us reach the “Amazon” area efficiently and respectfully. Once we reach the wetlands, I slow right down and stop so we can watch birds and enjoy the place the way it should be enjoyed. I’m always happy to share stories about the lake’s animals, plants, history, and villages, and I want every guest to leave feeling they’ve seen the real Lake Skadar!

We booked a 2.5 hour private boat tour of Lake Skadar for our family of five. It was absolutely amazing. Milan, our host was very knowledgeable about the lake and about the nature around the lake and was super-friendly. It is obvious that he is very passionate about what he does and he tries very hard to give you the best experience. He even accommodated our request for some swimming time in the Lake which we really appreciated. It was the best experience of our holiday and I highly recommend booking with Milena tours. Thank you very much Milan.

Fantastic experience on Lake Skadar! There were three of us for a 2.5-hour boat trip. Milan, our guide, was very kind, attentive, and passionate. His explanations were clear, and we could ask him any questions. The route is unique and off the beaten track, with few other boats around, even in the middle of the day. Don't hesitate, go for it!

Had a great private tour with Milan. He is an enthusiastic and fun guide who can tell you everything about nature and the lake, but also talk about all and more. Thanks to the fast boat and his knowledge, we have seen many hidden gems in a short time and you can easily determine where you want to stop for photos. Absolutely recommended to kiss a private tour with Milan. You pay a little more, but your experience is many times greater than on a larger boat with more people.

We booked a private boat tour on Lake Skadar with Milan and were absolutely thrilled by the scenery and his expertise. He is truly passionate about his work. The tour duration is flexible, and he charges by the hour. We stayed in his mother's beautifully furnished apartment, which is also highly recommended in Virpazar. Milan's girlfriend, Anja, came to the apartment beforehand to discuss the boat tour with us and gave us valuable information about excursions in the area. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made our stay so unforgettable. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay for one night.
