Budva is a 2,500-year-old coastal city that splits its identity between a charming, walled medieval Old Town and a sprawling, modern resort strip known for its intense nightlife and crowded beaches. It is the heart of the "Budva Riviera" and serves as the country's most developed and busiest tourist hub
Insider Tips
Budva is the country's most-visited destination and the most lively town along the coast. In summer, it’s packed with tourists attracted by its beaches, various watersport options, and vibrant nightlife. If you're seeking a laid-back experience, you'll be better off staying near Sveti Stefan, Petrovac or another quieter town along the coast
The Old Town is definitely a highlight with its narrow stone lanes, small squares, churches and city walls. The Citadel will give you access to panoramic terraces. It's worth mentioning that the Old Town is relatively small and a visit usually take 1-2 hours
Did you know?
Budva’s Old Town was heavily damaged in the 1979 Montenegro earthquake, then painstakingly restored. Today’s “medieval postcard” look is partly the result of that reconstruction.
