The Kotor Cable Car is a gondola system that brings passengers from the sea-level station in Dub to the mountain peak of Kuk (1,348m) in just 11 minutes. It offers a literal bird's-eye view of the entire Boka Bay
Insider Tips
The new cable car starts near Kotor (Dub) and embarks on a 4km journey, reaching Kuk village on Mount Lovćen at an elevation of 1,348m above sea level. The 11-minute journey offers a unique and breathtaking view of the Bay of Kotor
The lower station is not in the Old Town. It's about a 10-minute drive/taxi ride from Kotor, located near the Vrmac Tunnel. There is a dedicated shuttle bus from the Port of Kotor for cruise passengers (approx. €20 return), but a local taxi is often cheaper for a group
Did you know?
While the current gondola is brand new, it follows the spirit of an Austro-Hungarian military cable car built in 1916. That original wartime system was used to transport 110 tons of supplies daily from the sea to the mountain peaks to support the empire's frontline troops.
