The most common starting point for hiking to Trnovačko Lake is from the nearby Maglić mountain in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The trail from Prijevor, a mountain plateau, is well-marked and takes about 2-3 hours to reach the lake

From the lake, it is reportedly possible to reach the main Nikšić–Plužine–Šćepan Polje road via Mratinje village. However, there are no maps or markers for this route.
