Full description
Step into Berat’s timeless charm on a guided walking tour designed for curious travelers who want more than “just a walk.” Meet your guide near the old town, then set off into a city of stacked white houses, narrow cobbled streets, and viewpoints that make you stop mid-sentence for a photo.
Begin in the historic lanes of Mangalem, where the famous window-filled facades cascade down the hillside like a living postcard. As you weave through stone alleys, your guide shares legends, local life insights, and the kind of small details you’d never notice alone: why houses look the way they do, how families lived, and what’s changed (and what hasn’t).
Next, cross the Osum River via the Gorica Bridge and discover the quieter Gorica neighborhood on the opposite bank. It’s a perfect change of pace: calmer streets, different angles for photos, and a new perspective on the city you’ve just explored.
Then comes the highlight for many guests: the climb to Berat Castle. The ascent is rewarded with panoramic views over the valley and a sense of stepping into a place where history still breathes: churches, traditional architecture, and stories that connect ancient times to everyday life. If you’re interested, you can also opt to visit the Onufri Iconography Museum for an extra cultural layer (entry not included).
You’ll leave with great photos, a deeper understanding of the city’s culture, and the feeling that you didn’t just see Berat, you experienced it!
Meeting point
Just in front of the 'Gate of the Pasha' monument

Erilda
Hi, I’m Erilda, your local storyteller, history translator and friendly walking companion in Berat! I love showing guests the city beyond the postcards: the little corners people miss, the stories hidden behind those famous windows, and the castle views that make even your camera roll feel emotional.
My guiding style is simple: warm, clear, and fun, because history is way easier to remember with a good dose of humor. Bring your curiosity and I’ll bring the legends!
