Full description
Swap the typical group raft for something far more personal: your own packraft on Montenegro’s legendary Tara River. This half-day adventure covers 12 km of the river’s most beautiful and exciting section, combining easy instruction, refreshing swim stops, and just enough adrenaline to keep your grin permanently switched on.
Start with a warm welcome and a quick transfer (pickup is in Žabljak). After a scenic drive with a photo stop at Đurđevića Tara Bridge, you’ll meet the team, get assigned your packraft, and learn the basics: paddling technique, safety, and how today will flow.
Then it’s time to launch:
Part 1: Arrival & packraft intro
Gear up, learn the essentials, and feel confident before you hit the water.
Part 2: Splavište → Ljutića River (warm-up paddle)
Ease into the rhythm on a calmer stretch (mostly Class I). After about 30 minutes, you’ll reach the bank near the Ljutića River, one of Europe’s shortest rivers, where you’ll take a break for a swim, photos, and a short hike to its dramatic source.
Part 3: Snack time on the river
Refuel with a riverside snack and a breather before the faster section.
Part 4: Ljutića → Žugića Luka (main run)
This is the “adrenaline-lovers” stretch, mostly Class II and III rapids with beautiful, sweeping canyon scenery. Your guide stays close, choosing lines and supporting you so you can focus on paddling and having a blast.
Part 5: Change & return transfer
Finish at Žugića Luka, change into dry clothes, pack up, and transfer back to Žabljak (or to your car). If there’s time, stick around for a quick chat and a drink, because every good river day deserves a proper ending.

Baki
Hey! I’m Baki, your river guide and the person who’ll be cheering the loudest when you nail your first set of rapids. I love packrafting because it’s the perfect mix: you get the freedom of paddling your own craft, but you’re never left to figure it out alone.
My style is simple: clear instructions and calm energy. I’ll keep you on the best lines, point out the hidden swim spots, and make sure you end the day tired in the good way: happy, proud, and already planning your next river!

We spent a half-day packrafting tour with Mio on the Tara. The 12-kilometre route was super beautiful and easy to do (even for beginners). Mio explained a lot to us, gave us helpful tips and guided us through the day with a lot of humour. A clear recommendation!

Just got back from packrafting the Tara River and it was an amazing trip! Couldn’t have had more fun thanks to our fantastic guides! The trip is perfectly planned and executed by the team and the river was amazing to travel down. Would 100% recommend for solo travellers or groups.

I took part in the three day packrafting trip on the Tara River Canyon. Absolutely TREMENDOUS FUN! Our fantastic guides were both friendly, supportive and encouraging and we all conquered the many rapids with smiles of delight! I still can't believe that all the food was home-made (it was sooo delicious). And camping beside the river felt very dreamy. This trip is truly outstanding - I feel very lucky to have experienced the rawness of the Montenegro wilderness and can't wait to get back out on the water. Thank you so much!
