The Blue Cave is a natural sea cave where sunlight reflects off the sandy white seabed to create an intense neon-blue glow throughout the cavern. It is accessible only by boat and is the most popular attraction on the Montenegrin coast
Insider Tips
The Blue cave gets marketed as THE must-see spot in the bay and is a popular stop for speedboat tours departing from Kotor. Because the cave is on the open sea, tours are frequently cancelled if the wind is high. Even if the Bay of Kotor looks calm, the waves outside can be too dangerous to enter the narrow cave mouth
It's sometimes not possible to swim directly inside the cave for safety reasons (high waves or too many boats). There are several smaller, nameless caves nearby that are often less crowded and arguably just as beautiful, ask your skipper to peek into them and stop for a swim there
