Full description
In the hillside village of Lukovë, beyond Albania’s famous beaches, this little farm invites you into a slower rhythm: one shaped by seasons, family, and olive trees.
This experience is hosted by Milto, the owner of the farm and the groves, who has been caring for the same family trees for generations. The name “Nena” means grandmother in Albanian, and the groves once belonged to Milto’s grandmother, so this visit isn’t just about tasting olive oil, it’s about understanding how land and identity stay intertwined in rural Albania.
Over ~1.5 hours, you’ll learn how the farm harvests native olives once a year and presses them locally. Then comes the highlight: a guided olive oil tasting where Milto shows you how to taste like a pro: how to notice aroma, bitterness, and peppery finish, and how these clues can tell you what’s actually inside the bottle.
The farm is also part of Albania’s growing agrotourism movement, supporting rural livelihoods and traditional food systems. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for the craft behind great olive oil, and a much higher standard the next time you’re in a supermarket aisle.

About your host

Milto
Hi, I’m Milto, the owner of this small olive farm in Lukovë. These olive trees have been in my family for generations, and the grove was once my grandmother’s.
I’ll teach you what real extra virgin olive oil actually is and how to taste it properly, so you leave with a new skill and, most likely, a better understanding of what to shop for next time you're at the supermarket!
I’ve also spent years abroad (including time in Canada), so English is easy, and questions are encouraged!

A highlight of our trip to Albania was a stop at this olive oil producer. We spent an enjoyable half hour talking with the owner (who lived 20 years in Canada so speaks excellent English). We learned so much about the health properties of olive oil and sampled pols and olives. Highly recommend to anyone interestes in food or health. Delicious, high quality products. Our suitcase is full!

It starts with the setting. Old albanian town hugging the steep hill. On one side the mountain covered in olive trees, on the other side the clear blue ionian sea with corfu in the distance. Milto is very proud and passionate about his olive oil and all things around it. The tour is about 1.5 hours where you see and hear the love he has for the town, traditions and making the best possible olive oil. You will learn a lot and be a true connaiseur of extra virgin olive oil by the end.

Milto gave us a great tour. Very welcoming and knowledgeable. We bought quality produces to bring home. Lovely stop to make while travelling the coast.

It is absolutely fantastic. The oil, the olives, we were allowed to taste everything. The prices are really good and not overpriced. Everything is handmade. Milto was very friendly and gave us all kinds of interesting information. Thanks for the raki and the olive branches

We had a great visit in the bottling/tasting room of this amazing olive oil farm. The owner welcomed us with open arms (and was very responsive beforehand :)) and explained everything there is to know about his farm, the olive oil production process, quality levels of olive oil and of course, the special natural way he produces his olives and olive oil. We had a blast and learned a lot! Great 'tour' and beautiful products. Of course we took some home!
