Shkodra is one of the country’s oldest and most culturally significant cities, known for its ancient Rozafa Castle, vibrant city center, Lake Shkodra, Ottoman-era architecture, and rich arts and cultural heritage.
Insider Tips
Shkodra’s city center is very walkable, featuring pedestrian streets lined with cafés, bars, and shops (don't miss Kole Idromeno street!). The city also has a strong cycling culture and is often called the "biking capital of the Balkans." Its flat terrain, compact layout, and car-restricted streets make cycling convenient for exploring the city
Visit Rozafa Castle in the late afternoon or at sunset, when temperatures are cooler. At this time, you can see the fortress clearly and enjoy expansive views of Lake Shkodra and the surrounding rivers
